I was in High School when PTLMN Hester was killed. I remember the news coverage as the City of Memphis was stunned by this incident. Later, in my twenties I became an officer myself and every time I enter a house I think of PTLMN Hester. He is a hero and will never be forgotten, he is a prime example to us ALL that we are NOT ten feet tall and bullett proof and we MUST be safe and work smart!!! PTLMN Hester.....enjoy your beat on Heaven's streets..........we got the ones down here.....until we meet again!!!!!

Officer Hester,
You and your fellow officers who tried to rescue you are true heroes. Your story if heatbreaking but also inspires me to be safer and to do a better job. May God bless you and your family. May the cowards who did this to you rot in hell.

Brother Hester,
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
Respectfully,

You are the reason why I am here. You were taken when I was very young, but I can recall the day.

This is a horror story that seems too awful to be true, even in an age of pop culture. It is such a paradox: of true evil and pure heroism. It still sickens me at what mankind can stoop to and makes me proud at how high mankind can soar in the remembrance of Officer Hester.
I pray for his family, friends and colleagues. He now walks a beat on St. MIchael's watch in Heaven. We lose a good man here on earth and grieve the loss, but we must not forget to rejoice the life and the eternal world he now enjoys.
God speed brother, we have it from here.

This is by far one of the most shocking stories of the murder of a Police Officer I have ever read. Officer Hester is a true hero. I hope his family is able to take some comfort in the fact that his fellow officers were able to capture and kill so many of his torturers.
Rest in Peace Patrolman Hester and watch over us all.

Its been close to 20 years since you've been gone. I am still very shocked in the way that you died and how you were tortured. My Prayers and thoughts will always be with you and the ones you left behind. Thank you Ofc.Hester for the sacrifice that you have made for all of us. God bless.

I was suprised when I read this story. During the police academy you hear so many horror stories of officers being killed. However, Officer Hester's death is even more shocking than any I have ever been told.
Rest in peace friend, you are not forgoten.
