What a wonderful brother-in-law. We think of you all the time and miss you dearly. You left such an impression on everyone that crossed your path. Your brother, my husband, misses you so much and we always have talks about the both of you. You and he have a special bond that will always be there even though you are both apart at this time. To the family and friends of Officer Lyle Herman and officers of the California Dept. of Corrections:

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Officer Herman was so tragically killed.
Although he has been dead for sixteen years,he is not forgotten, but remembered and revered.

How sad that this dedicated young officer died so young leaving a loving family. How nice that his family continues to carry on his legacy. His valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you all be comforted by the warm embrace of the circle of love and support from the law enforcement community, and other police survivors.

Our family shares your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg, Ca Police Dept. when he was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. We grieve for you and with you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Lyle gave to his community and the citizens of California, and the supreme sacrifice which he and his family made on June 22, 1989.
