Sean and I served together in the Army at Fort Riley, KS. He bought my '76 Monte Carlo and set it up nice. He was a good guy. I went to Korea and he went home to be on the NYPD. He was funny, always making jokes to keep things light. I was dismayed when I saw him on the news after the shooting. Sorry for your loss.

My heart goes out to your two boys and your wife. Now and forever. It is just not even close to being fair.
I've always felt bad for the two cops who took you to Columbia Pres and the Sgt on Patrol. You couldn't pick 3 better people. Truly great guys before and haunted thereafter.
No Sean, you are not forgotten. We all love the 4-4 as did you. Those of us working that night tried to save you but we failed.
None of us will ever forget. Rest In Peace.

Sean; it is 20 years since you were taken from us. It feels like yesterday you were making me laugh at the precinct with your antics. You have been a role model for many who have come since your passing and they continue to show the courage and honor you did that day. Many young men and women continue to hold your torch and we will never let it go out !! Peace my brother !!...

Sean and I were classmates at Most Precious Blood School in Astoria, Queens. He was an angel. When his mom passed away, he became even protective of his younger brother. He always brought his brother to my little brother's birthday parties. Sean was so quiet and polite--a gentleman from an early age. I will never forget you, Sean.

Today marks 19 years since Sean was murdered in the Bronx trying to protect shop owners in the midst of a robbery. Here in Astoria Queens, where he grew up, we remember him everyday. We named a park after him, "Sean's Place", it is a place of peace and renewal.
On this day when people say, "Beware the ides of March", I don't think of Julius Ceasar, I think of Sean McDonald.
We the private citizens of Astoria will never forget Sean's life.

Your life, your bravery and your sacrifice are remembered and honored eveyday, but especially today.
For You Sean:
We remember them. At the rising of the sun and at its going down, we remember them.
At the blowing of the wind and the chill of winter, we remember them. At the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring, we remember them.
At the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer, we remember them. At the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn, we remember them.
At the beginning of the year and when it ends, we remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us, as we remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength, we remember them.
When we are lost and sick at heart, we remember them. When we have joy we crave to share, we remember them.
When we have decisions that are difficult to make, we remember them. When we have achievements that are based on theirs, we remember them.
As long as we live, they too will live; for they are now a part of us, as we remember them."
Amen.

On March 15, 1994, at 0500hrs, my husband n I were driving into The Bronx from Orange County, NY with our 3 sons strapped in their car seats to drop them off to their baby sitter before starting our day scheduled day tours. While listening to the traffic on the car radio we heard the news that a Police Officer had been shot n killed n the South Bronx!... The Pct was not mentioned but I immediately recognized the name SEAN MCDONALD as one of the Officers from MY PCT THE 44!!! I was shocked and in tears. He was one of our newly assigned rookie cops and many times I went to find him to deliver messages from his wife while I was assigned as the TSO (telephone switchboard operator) while I was recovering from my last pregnancy and on Restricted Duty!!! I got to know him well. When I arrived the Station House was inundated by The Press n All the Officers and Detectives were hauling in every suspect they could find. There was so much grief, sadness n anger, but most of all there was a feeling of FAMILY UNITY AND DETERMINATION, Knowing WE, THE N Y P D, N ESPECIALLY THE 044 PCT HAD THE GREATEST DETECTIVES IN THE WORLD AND NO ONE WOULD GO HOME UNTIL THE PERPETRATORS GOT CAUGHT!! They were arrested 2 days later!!! 18 yrs have passed since, I still remember it as if it was yesterday! I am sure everybody at The 044PCT. does too. WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER POLICE OFFICER SEAN MCDONALD, 044PCT. N Y P D MAY YOU FOREVER REST IN PEACE IN GOD'S LOVING ARMS AS YOU KEEP WATCH OVER YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE 044.

THE YEAR NOW IS 2010. SEAN, SIXTEEN YEARS HAVE PASSED SINCE "YOU GAVE THE LAST TRUE MEASURE OF DEVOTION". THOSE OF US AT 'THE FOUR FOUR' WHO HAD THE HONOR OF SERVING WITH YOU HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN YOU OR YOUR FAMILY!
THE SAINT PATRICK'S DAY PARADE WILL BE HERE SOON. IN 1994, THE PARADE WAS IN YOUR HONOR. THAT YEAR, COPS AND CIVILIANS WHO SAW OUR 44 COLLAR BRASS EXTENDED THEIR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES TO US AND YOUR FAMILY. A NUMBER OF COPS TOLD ME HOW STRANGERS, CIVILIANS WROTE CHECKS ON THE STREET OR HANDED THEM MONEY TO BE DONATED TO THE FUND FOR THE McDONALD FAMILY. YOU GAVE YOUR LIFE FOR THIS CITY AND THIS CITY HONORED YOU AS ONLY NEW YORK CITY CAN DO.
I HAVE NOT MARCHED IN THE PARADE IN SEVERAL YEARS BUT I PLAN TO THIS YEAR. AS ON EVERY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY SINCE '94, AS I WALK UP FIFTH AVENUE, I WILL MARCH PROUDLY IN YOUR HONOR. THE RANKS OF AMERICANS OF IRISH DESCENT HAVE BEEN DROPPING IN THE LAST TEN YEARS ON OUR JOB BUT THE LEGACY OF SERVICE AND SACRAFICE WILL FOREVER LIVE IN THE PARADE AND IN THE HISTORY OF NEW YORK CITY BECAUSE OF POLICE OFFICERS LIKE YOU.
YOUR PLAQUE, SEAN, HANGS IN FRONT OF THE 44 DESK. I SEE IT EVERY WORKING DAY. IT REMINDS ME OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A NEW YORK CITY POLICE OFFICER. I ASK THAT YOU WATCH OVER ALL YOUR OF BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN BLUE SO THAT, ALTHOUGH WE WOULD BE PROUD, NO OTHER NAMES NEED BE ADDED TO "THE WALL OF HONOR"
