Reflections for Probationary Patrolman William B. Heaney
I learned about you in the Police Academy. It is an honor to research your story. Blue Courage is a subject taught today and it is because of patrolmen like you who never back down from a fight. It may be tough but I am proud to one day fill the shoes you and many other fallen brother and sisters left behind. Never forgotten. Rip Patrolman Heaney.

On the anniversary of my Great-Grandfather's death, I would like to thank him and all of my fallen brothers and sisters in blue over the years that have made the ultimate sacrifice. While I never knew you, the hole that was left by your tragic death was felt deeply by my Grandmother and mother. It was also a significant reason why I chose to follow in your footsteps. You are not truly gone as long as you are remembered. Semper fidelis ad mortem.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 100th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

On today, the 96th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of New York City. It took another three years, but your murderer finally got the justice that he deserved.
