Reflections for Conservation Officer Loyd C. Hays

What kind of world is it where you get such a light prison term for doing such a evil act. But is more important is this good man. The kind of life he led says it all. So kind and good and out there standing up for people who can't stand up for themselves. Rest in peace sir and know that you will never be forgotten.

I am deeply touched by the story of the death of Conservation Officer Loyd Hays and the life he led with his daughters and his wife who I have seen recent reflection comments on this page. A tear was brought to my eye reading these reflections and I thought it would be best if I left my own reflection as a sign of gratitude. The criminal who killed Loyd Hays and his short sentence which was supposed to be a life sentence is a grave miscarriage of Justice. My thoughts are with the family even after such a long time.

A truly brave hero. Very sad that a violent murdering rapist only served 15 years after what he did to this great officer and lady.

We are all so honored to be your children and grand children. 50 years ago today my life changed forever. I still carry the pain that my 10 year little girl heart felt that day. Loved forever until I can run to your arms again.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 49th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

Thank you for all your nice comments. He left 5 wonderful children, whom I have the privilege of knowing them all very well. He has many grandchildren and great grandchildren. It is unfortunate that his murderer is out on parole. May he and all the fallen officers rest in peace. Godspeed to them and their families they left behind.

On the anniversary of his death, we pause to honor and remember Officer Loyd Hays.
It's a shame that our state had such weak laws and leaders to allow this officer's killer to get out of prison and walk the streets after serving only 15yrs for such a brutal and heinous murder. We're thankful society puts more value on the life of an officer today than back then, but that doesn't excuse such leniency. Our "system" made his family victims a second time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of his surving family members.
He will never be forgotten.
