Family, Friends & Fellow Officers Remember...

I have recently found this site and fondly remember you from Attending the WV State Police Academy with you in 1979. It saddens me that the world still needs brave men as your self to protect of us from evil. I will never forget your sacrifice. God bless you and yours.

So many senseless losses... So many hearts broken.. So many lives changed forever.. I am a Huntington native, and the son of a former H.P.D. officer. I was 12 when this happened, and the memory of it lingers today. I have often thought of Officer Harmon even though I never knew him. His death was brutal, and unnecessary; but it has saved me many times over... Of that, I am convinced. I have always taken care, and paid extra attention while on duty because of the memory of his death. To his wife, and daughter I say: "The faith was kept, the duty performed, and the legacy, remembered." Rest in Peace, brother.

i am not a police officer but my brother is one at huntington P.D He told me that officer Harmon was also severely beaton in the face and head, with his own flashlight before being shot in the head 5 times. Everyone in Huntington still remembers Officer Harmon and misses him dearly. He had a two year old daughter and a wife.
