Reflections for Trooper George L. Hanna
In memory of George's 30th year I have started a 'Trooper George L. Hanna Memorial Scholarship' to a NHS graduating senior who is pursuing a college degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement.
He was my big brother who loved helping others and was there for me always...
Wanted to share his prayer... This was over his visor in his cruiser; '668 C' the night of the tragedy...
My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see... the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end. Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your will does not mean that I am actually doing so. But I believe that the desire to please you does in fact please you. And I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this you will lead me by the road, though I may know nothing about it. Therefore I will trust you always though I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death. I will not fear, for you are ever with me, and you will never leave me to face my perils alone......
Miss You...
Love, Molly Hanna-Glidden

I was a Dispatcher at the Holden Barracks from March 63 to Jan 99 and worked many shifts when George was on duty and was good friends with him. "668 to Station "C", "I need a 9-10-and a 14 when your ready". I can still hear you George.

I went through a municipal academy in 1990 run by State Troopers. We heard about Trooper Hanna throughout our training. I vividly remember one night, our class was brought out for nighttime training. Many other Troopers were there to help. Trooper Hanna's name was mentioned constantly. It was an honor to see how these men truly respected Trooper Hanna and how heartbroken they were over his (and our) loss. There were 45 members in our class, and it was the most quiet bus ride back to the academy.

God bless you George, although we never met, I carried the prayer you kept in your cruiser from the time of your death until I retired in 1999. It gave me strength and courage each time I read it. I still carry it with me today.

When I was only 10 yrs. old I can remember my father who was a police officer at the time leaving the house on a very cold morning dressed in his honor guard uniform. I knew where he was going that morning because we had talked the days before about the selfish murder of Trooper Hanna. he was gone all day for that funeral. Now Im 35 yrs. old and Im a police officer. My father has since retired but up until this day he still says that out of all the funerals he went to for police officers, Trooper Hanna's was one of the toughest he ever had to attend. I will never forget that. I often think of his family & hope they are well. God Speed Trooper Hanna and Thank You.

Hi to all, Thank you so much for all the lovely messages. It is nice to know that people still think of my father I can't believe it has been over 25 years now that I lost him. There is not a day that goes bye that I don't think about him in some way. It could be a song on the radio, watching the Red Sox, seeing a Cruiser go by. I would love to thank you personally for writing in especially the people that i grew up with. So I will leave my email address for you to contact me, and thanks again for remembering my Father, stay safe and god bless!

Trooper Hanna, today marks the 25th anniversary of your murder. I do not know if those three who were sentence to LIFE, are still in prison, this is after all, Massachusetts. We can only hope that they face true justice if not in this life, then in the next for taking you from your family and friends. I'm sure you never truly left them.
The very fact that an award has since been named in your honor speaks volumes of what was thought of you. Those of us still out doing the job, no matter where we do it, can only hope to live up to the standards you represent.
God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
