Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Thomas Allen Ingram

TAI,
You were my first Sarge, my trainer, the king of organizing and compassionate policing. When people ask me why I’m so organized I say I took it on after I lost a friend many years ago. I have no clue how I found this site today myself as many of us are stating. You are missed, you are remembered and you mattered. Thank you my friend. Moody recalling your laugh, thank you, I could hear it again and had forgotten. Love to his family and friends when you come by.

Not a day that goes by that I don't think about you. Orange County just posted that they put up a memorial in you're name and dedication on the new north Econ pedestrian trail park, Near the spot of that sad fatal event.
I know you are looking down on you're loved ones, as well as taking care of others up there with you.

Thank you for giving me direction when I needed it the most. I will never forget the officer, man, or father figure you were and still are in many ways.

Miss you very much

Francis , Retired

The Sheriffs of Florida and their deputies will never forget the sacrifice you and your family made to uphold our laws and protect society.

Your name has been inscribed on the Florida Sheriffs and the National Law Enforcement Memorial and in our hearts. May you forever rest in peace.

Deputy Thomas A, Ingram:
My beloved friend and hero, your guidance, pray and kind words to everyone you came in contact with; no matter if it was a fellow LEO, a suspect, a 10-15 (arrestee), a defendant (you was called to testify against in court) or a young person going astray, your influence was always that of a powerful and positive remembrance.

I remember your settlement and you purchased a limousine business, and was shortly given an ultimatum of your badge or your business. We talked in great length and you smiled and said “Ron, I have thought everything over and my community has to come first, or I would no longer be the person I am.” That conversation burns hard in my mind, you gave up a very financial lucrative career to continue protecting your friends, family and neighbors (the community you so loved).

Well my friend your community loved and still loves you.

All the time we spent together made me a better person and the person I sit here today being.

I named my first son in your remembrance whom was born just after your demise.

My friend I look forward to the day I see you in the great heavens above.

Forever remembering the person you made me!

I reflect on a regular basis our friendship, and work, I was not surprised to hear how Tom was killed, helping others. He was one of the finest officers I have ever known and I miss his laugh and humor. I always had fun working together with Tom. I ordered a memory band and have worn this reminder for over 20 yrs. Each DUI arrest I would say a little pray and say to myself, this is for you Tom.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 22nd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their memories and devotion to you through their reflections.

Rest In Peace.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Brother Ingram,

May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
And the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Respectfully,
You’re Brothers in Blue

For someone I never met you have touched my life through some many others. I have ran into several people over the last few years who still bring you up in conversation. The lives you touched were touched deeply and forever. Please continue to watch over these guys. Feel free to drop in on them from time to time. They could use your presence and company.
