Your heroism and service is honored today, the 90th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Det. Hamby, though there may not be much here in the way of reflections, you have not been forgotten by your brother's here at the Salt lake City Police Dept. I have had the honor to personaly hang your picture and story next to the many, many other fallen hero's from the Salt Lake City Police Dept. Each Officer that signs on at the start of another day passes by that long, sad wall and remembers your sacrifice. Your name also appears on the large granite stone at the front entrance to this Police Department. The Officer's that pass these places of remeberance also remember that you and our many other fallen brothers have taught us a great deal and in that way you are with us on each call for service that respond to. Rest assured you have not nor will you ever be forgotten.
