Valerie Tressler did not mention that Virgil had a nephew - Elston Hall living
in Colleyville, Texas. Elston is the son of Alwyn Hall, a brother of Virgil. I, Elston,
was 11 years old when we got the call about Virgil being shot in Denver. We
were at our Grandmother Grace's house in Wilmore, KS. We left as soon as
possible for Denver. I remember Virgil and Mary well as our family visited Denver
each summer. Virgil's sister June and her husband Bob also lived in Denver
as well as his mother and my grandmother Disey. All of us had great times
driving in the mountains and having picnics somewhere along the drive.
I am so proud of Virgil and his service to the city of Denver.

I never met my Uncle Virgil, but his parents, brothers, and sister (my Mother) never really recovered from his murder. His widow, Mary, never remarried. My Father came home from WWII to support the family through the funeral. Uncle Virgil is survived by four nieces; myself, Carol Hall McMullen, Pat Hall Gibb, and Jean Hall Land; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 67th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

Patrolman Hall - Four Fridays ago, I stood in the State Assembly chambers when you name was one of almost 250 read off during a motion regarding this month's Peace Officer Memorial Week - you are not forgotten.

Thank you for your service to the people of the City of Denver and the State of Colorado. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.
