Richard and I we’re friends, he working with APD, and me an X-ray student at Grady Memorial Hospital. I believe we met while he was either escorting a prisoner, or working in the hospital detention unit. He taught me a lot about being safe in Atlanta in the 67-69 time period. RIP Richard.

Richard, as I knew him, was a close friend when I was in Atlanta 1967-1969. We met while I was attending X-ray school at Grady Memorial Hospital, probably near the APD hospital detention area. We shared some really great times together, and with several other officers.
He was one of the nicest persons one would ever met. I’m sure he was an influence in my decision to go into the Army. Great memories.

I am the daughter of Mark Bradley Greene, who is Officer James (Jimmy) Greene's brother. I was born in September of 1974 and never knew James. I also was estranged from my father Mark since I was about 1 yr old and subsequently never regained a connection to him. I check this Web page often to see if other family members ever try to connect with each other here. I am sure Jimmy was a fine Officer and an even finer brother, father, and son. God rest his soul.

With everything going on in Boston, it made me think of Jimmy and I decided to do an Internet search. Jimmy was my mother's stepbrother. I never knew his case had been solved until now. I want to thank all those that dedicate their lives to protecting, serving, and continuing to try to solve crimes that most forget about. I know it is often a thankless job, but please know that your dedication is greatly appreciated.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 40th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I am glad that justice was obtained after so many years.

Rest In Peace

i was a patrolman at the time he was slain. I was at that time working for the austell ga p.d. I was unable to go to his funeral, however i wrote the eulogy poem for officer Greene. It was presented at his funeral and read by my captain who attended the funeral . I have since all the yrs lost that poem in a fire and many more items, however i think that as a major loss to me . Please if anybody knows how to or can retrieve that poem i would be very very grateful.
thanks officer Greene you are still remembered by me and lots of others!!!

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace in such incidents & our only real comfort comes from Him. May His strength, comfort & peace continue to be the sustaining force in the lives of all who knew this beloved officer; and may it somehow help to know he is remembered; and that we relentlessly persued those involved.

Officer Greene, today marks the 35th anniversary of your murder at the hands of some misguided barbarians. I can only hope they faced true justice in the next world since none seemed to face it in this one.

Your efforts on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta and all peaceful innocent people have not been forgotten. I know in my heart that, though you were taken from this world bodily, you never left your family.

God Bless you and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.

Dear Officer Greene,

Our deepest sympathy to you and the family. Please know that our prayers are for both you and your loved ones. This murder was so senseless.

On this dark and scornful day a righteous man was taken from us all. His bravery, dedication and unwavering will to help those who could not or would not help themselves did not go unnoticed.

We will meet you someday, sir. In the meantime, please protect us and pray for us from above. We love you, and thank you.
