It is so nice to see all the nice things, that till this day, people have to say about my mother. She is the reason I am who I have become today. Though I did not grow up to know my mother she lives on in my memories. Kayle (my daughter) tell me how she dreams of you mommy! I wish she could have known you as well, but obviously you are making a point for her to know you in her mind. I miss you so very much everyday! There are days where it feels like I was just delivered that gut wrenching news of your death, but I know you would not want me to be sad. You are my hero, my angel, and most importantly my mother. I love you with every ounce of my being!

Love you alwats and forever more!

To The Family of Det. Gort:
I wanted to offer my sympathies on your senseless death. I can't fathom any plausible reason for a jury to return a verdict of manslaughter in this case. Det. Gort your courage and bravery will never be forgotten. You were killed like your colleague Lt. Cheryl Seiden who was robbed and shot and suffered for 2 weeks until her passing. my dad was a New York city Police Officer in the 102 precinct for almost 40 years. On Thursday there was a shooting in Miami and two police officers: Det. Roger Castillo and Det. Amanda Haworth were gunned down by a career criminal they were about to arrest and bring to justice. Society has become more violent and one day your killer will get what he deserves. Rest in peace Det. Gort, your sacrifice for the citizens of Dade County will not be forgotten.

To the Gort family may you know that we have not forgotten your HERO. Time does not heal the pain in our hearts, but it does make it easier to get up and continue with life every day without our loved ones. My prayers are with you today on her EOW. HEROES DO LIVE FOREVER...

God Bless Evelyn and her family, especially her children.
Her smile, beauty, and character will always be an imprint in my mind. The world has lost another beautiful person to a senseless act. I pray she rests in peace and that those close have kept her children safe.

Although I did not know you in life, I spent time with your daughters the week after you passed. Besides your police work, you raised two beautiful, intelligent and compasionate daughters. I think of them often and hope they are well. I'll never forget that time and the impression it made on me early in my career. God bless.

You are remembered today and thank you Detective for your service. This writer is most disappointed of the outcome of the trail, justice was truly not served on your behalf.

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
