Reflections for Officer Roger D. Gore

Officer Gore,

As a young man growing up in Newhall, I remember the tragedy that occured. Both my father and mother were in law enforcement in Los Angeles and Los Angeles County. The resulting changes in tactics as a result of the "Newhall Incident" has saved countless lives in the law enforcement community. May you and your fellow Officers rest in peace knowing that your lives were not lost in vain. You gave the ultimate sacrifice, may you continue to walk with angels.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).

We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.

Officer Gore, you are remembered on this date of your death. You will always be remembered.

These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.

...Gone, but never Forgotten....

Rest easy blue angel, many years have passed but you are not forgotten.

The Newhall incident (as it is now referred to), leaves an open wound now, as it did back in 1970. Having grown up in the L.A. area, and my Dad, being a Police Officer in L.A. County, this horrible night stands out in my mind like it happened yesterday.

The training that resulted from these murders, have benefited countless Police Officers throughout the world. These brave hero's sacrificed their lives in defense of everyone that was on I-5 that evening, and should never be forgotten. Thank you Brothers, you truly made a difference while you were here, and I for one will never forget...

Eloy, Az. Police Department

I never met you, I was born long after you left this world, and still I feel as though there is a strange connection between the two of us. I look up to you, you are my guiding star, and hopefully even my guardian angel. I want to be a Police Officer so badly and in the same time I am so scared but I know that you will stand by this young rookies side.
