Reflections for Guard Myron H. Goodwin
I reiterate what said seven days prior on this being the day you actually left us. God Bless you and your seven counterparts and partners always.

Your actions are to be commended and similarly mirror that of another hero 88 years later in the James T. Vaughn Correctional Institution whose name, Steven Floyd, unfortunately shares this very same website with you. This day in 1929, a horrific day for the state of Colorado and an incredibly horrific day for law enforcement everywhere as these brave men made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in peace always and know that no passage of time can ever erase your service and sacrifice.

I grew up hearing stories about my great grandfather and his sacrifice. These stories were a primary influence in my decision to first a police Officer and then a corrections officer. May your sacrifice always be remembered.

I have the greatest respect and admiration for the profession of Corrections Officer, or Prison Guard as you were once called. This incident which took so many lives is a prime example of the dangers you face. Police Officers get to deal with the GOOD in society from time to time whereas you only deal with the BAD, even when some of the inmates are basically decent people, they certainly wouldn't be in your custody if they were angels.
I can only hope that all those involved faced true justice when all was said and done, if not in this life, then in the next.
I also hope you have found nothing but peace in your eternal rest. God Bless you and thank you for your service, Brother.

Guard Goodwin - October 3rd, 1929 - A very dark day in Colorado history. Eight guards killed. What a tragedy of immense proportions. Thanks for your service to the people of Colorado. As a brother from outside the walls, I hope that God grants you and your brothers eternal rest and that His perpetual light shines upon you all.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 80th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I had never heard of this incident. As a former correctional officer at San Quentin, my heart went out to the officers and their families whose lives were forever altered on that day.
Rest In Peace

On the anniversary of your death, we remember you and thank you Sir for your service.
This writer is pleased that the cowards that murdered you and your fellow Guards, did the right thing in disposing of themselves. Although it was much too good for them and the pain and destruction they caused.
