Reflections for Chief of Police Emilio Girona-Vizcarrondo
I am excited to find this page! My grandmother was Ana Maria Girona de Quinones. I'm pretty sure Enrique Girona Vizcarrondo was her father. I remember her telling me her father died in Cuba. Dolores (Lolita?), if you are still reading this page, I'm pretty sure we've met and I am very interested in the family history!

Laurie, Mary and Elmer were my Aunt and Uncle. I haven't been back to this website until today so I haven't kept up with any responses. I will have to check back to see if I can come up with your email address.

Emilio Girona was my Grandfather

Jay: Please contact me; if Maria married Elmer Mercilis and an executive at Young & Rubicam Publishers in NY, I knew them well. Sadly, I never knew neither my maternal (Girona) nor my paternal (Lomba) grandparents. I have very fond memories of Maria and Elmer, including several amusing happenings. I hesitate to leave my email address here, but, please, if you didn't get my original email, try reaching me through the source you used at that time. I look forward to exchanging recollections and, perhaps even photographs. Sincerely - awaiting your contact. Laurie (originally Dolores but that's a story that's best told in email type privacy. Best wishes to you and your family.

My grandmother was the wife of Emilio Girona Viscarrondo. Her name was Flora Lopez Y Algarin and I never met a more wonderful person. I think of her often. She moved to NY with a son (Emilio), 4 daughters (Maria Girona,Emilia Girona, Luz Girona and my mother Delia Girona). They are all deceased and I have been trying to locate distant relatives on the Girona side and just happened on this wonderful site.

I've just begun writing a family history. My maternal grandfather was Enrique Girona Vizcarrona. He died in a Cuban hospital either 1912 or 1916. Mom told me he always said that "if someone is named "Girona," call them brother. There's no doubt we're related."
Rest in peace; I'm sorry I just found out about you, but am proud to have you in my ancestral line. I doubt that you living at the same time as my grandfather, and sharing the same surname, that you're not related...even brothers.
You're in my prayers.
It would be great if any of you are related, if some of your descendants would get in touch with me through this organization.

Possibly you were my grandfather's brother

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 93rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace
