Deputy Marshall Gus Gill thank you for your sacrifice. My great-grandfather Deputy Marshall Jake Galloway was there with you on that fateful night. We thank you and remember you both. You are both missed by your families. My grandfather, Jack Galloway, spoke often of his father and how much he missed him and also you Mr. Gill. My mother, Pamela Laroche (nee, Galloway) was but a little girl of three years old when you were both taken from us and only remembers through the stories she was told by my grandfather and of the few pictures they had.

Michael Gill, I saw the reflection you left on my great-grandfather's page and I thank you for that. You mentioned that you carry a picture of the two of them in your wallet. If there is anyway that you would search for my name on the internet (it's a pretty unique name in Texas where I'm at) and make contact that would be so nice. My mother would love to have a copy of the photo you have as she has very few of her grandfather. Thank you so much.

Hello Sgt. Stafford. My name is Mike Gill and my Great Grandpaw was Gus Gill. I know too well what happened that fatful evening. My Dad was just a youngster and rode his bicycle to the scene when he heard what had happened. I too never had the chance to know my Great Grandpaw. So I will continue to remember both of our Great Grandpaws. I can't help but to get a bit angry when I think of how that night unfolded. God bless you and your family. Thank you for your service. He would be so proud of you! You be careful and watch your six. Many prayers to you and yours. Mike Gill

I hope by following in his footsteps that I can make him proud. Ever time I put on the badge I do it in memoir of my great grandfather. I never got to know you. But I love you great grandpa. I have blue blood in my veins just like you. Your Gone but not forgotten.

I don't remember him, but my mother talked about him. She loved him very much. I is a shame that the man that killed him and another police officer was released. The reason he was released was because :he was an old man that needed to spend the rest of his life with his family"
That was the reason, well what about the men that were killed they did not get that chance.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fifty second anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
