Reflections for Police Officer Will Garr
Rest in Peace, Officer Garr. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.

Officer Garr's murder widowed a mother and orphaned five children, one of which was my mother. No survivor benefits at the time produced extremely hard times for the family. The mother kept the family together by taking in boarders, men who were working in the mines near the small town of Caney. My Mother 13 yrs at time of her father's death obtained a teaching certificate and taught school at a farming community near Fowler,Ks.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 104th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
Rest In Peace.

Officer Will Garr was the father of my Grandmother. His loss has never been forgotton, and I'm sure he would be well pleased of the fact that some of his decendants have, and still, serve proudly in the Law Enforcement community.
