God bless you brother. We've come along way. We are all blue in my eyes and you are a hero. Rest in peace

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
It is hard to imagine today the circumstances under whch you worked. I wonder if your death was an impetus to change such a misguided policy. I pray that it was.
Rest In Peace

Officer Gaines, It saddens me to know that the ignorance of society was your demise. God bless you for your sacrafice. I wish that things were different for you and the other officers that were belittled and not allowed to perform their duties as a law enforcement officer because of the color of your skin. Though my skin is white, you are my brother in blue. God bless you my friend.
