My reflection is how terrible this must have been for his family.
Cruel cold hearted criminals - too many. The police force can’t even make a dent their hands are tied and now it’s only gotten worse. . I want to know how come it doesn’t list the guy who killed him - his name and picture. How come we don’t see it ?Protecting him perhaps?
And how was he paroled he should be in there with no parole at the killing a cop especially some month so young. Where is he now? Well to see that he was given a second lease on life? I hate the city now. These mayors have let it go down the tubes for the past 10 years. It’s terrible for the citizens, terrible for the cops

Rest in Peace Warrior. You served your city and your country honorably. It is beyond me why someone who is out on bail for a drug related murder than murders a police officer is paroled. Something is wrong with the system.

I heard the radio transmissions in EAST ORANGE, NJ! His kid brother's graduation was that night. Blood supplies were called for. Dinkins and Brown were against the 9mm. That is why Scott died. He had not. His killer had.

My daughter just went to Wantagh High School today to see her daughters volleyball game. She saw the plaque dedicated to Scott and sent me the picture. His death was a turning point in my Nursing career.
I was a Nurse in the ER at Peninsula in Rockaway, Queens that day when another cop carried him in. I had had coffee with Scott a day or two before. We had talked about growing up in Nassau County - him from Wantagh and me Rockville Centre. He was a good guy. Someone gave me some type of award related to his care about a month later. It didn’t really matter. I couldn’t do it anymore after Scott. I quit a short time later.

Hey Scott, I think of you once in awhile. Before you transferred to NYPD, we were in the same squad at Housing Authority Police Department where you and I worked several posts together. Especially a homicide at Bronxdale projects. I was up on the landing and I can still see your bright face at the bottom of the dark stairwell. We were so young! I started a family and got out early, I didn’t think I was going to make it to 20! RIP

Never forgot that tragedy. I only had a little over one year on the job also, having started in Jan ‘85. Most perps were armed with semi’s by that time, so we were already outgunned. RIP hero.

I recall this tragedy quite well. It shook me as it did all other NYPD cops. He was in the fight of his life with an inadequate weapon. It cost him his life. RIP PO Gadell.
