Reflections for Police Officer Edward Emile Fritz, Jr.
So incredibly proud and honored to be a relative of Edward “Eddie” Fritz. Eddie was killed the year before I was born
He lives on in our hearts forever.
I’m thankful 2 of the 3 men who shot and killed him were brought to justice and executed.
Especially thankful Jay Reno covered this story and was able to help memorialize Eddie’s courage.

The story is even more interesting, this was the first fallen officer in which the FBI’s methods were used to find the killers. He is memorialized in D.C. and the writer who covered the story for the Miami Hearld Paper was Jay Reno....the father of Janet Reno... both cop killers each escaped prison separately, caught and executed...COP killer # 2, # 3 put to death.

This was my grandmothers nephew. I just found this info on this site. Such a tragedy - such sorrow my great uncle Edward must have endured. Thank you for your service cousin Edward - belated but heartfelt. I will share your heroism with my family - your descendants .

Ran into an article on the incident. Just last week. I lived in the area at the time of the shooting and remember it. George Anderson shot you. He escaped from Miami Jail. Was captured in New York by Officer Abraham Becker.

To The Family of Officer Fritz:
I wanted to offer my sympathies even though your senseless death took place nearly 58 years ago. Your bravery and courage will never be forgotten. I believe there is a street sign named after you in Coconut Grove. My dad was a policeman in New York City for almost 40 years. It is important to return to your family after your shift and Officer Fritz your dedication to duty should not be forgotten. Rest in peace Officer Fritz.
