Reflections for Police Officer Connie Smith Hawkins
In Memory of Officer Hawkins---
~~~~~The Broken Chain~~~~~
We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name.~~In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same.~~It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you, the day God called you home.~~You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide; and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.~~Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the Chain will link again.
May we never forget this Warrior's sacrifice....May God Grant her Son, Family, and Fellow Officers, the Serenity to accept the things they cannot change, Courage to Change the things they can, and the Wisdom to know the difference....Rest in Peace, Sister in Blue....
I first met Connie in the fall of 1977. It was a new group of apprentices starting at the shipyard. I was in my second year as an apprentice welder. She was a good person and she had a lot of respect for her co-workers, herself and her family. She loved her son. He was the light of her life. She called him by his initials DJ. There are very few that we meet in our lifetime that we can say touched us, and left their mark. For me, Connie was one of those people, special, caring, loved life, and loved her family. We can all be thankful that she was part of our lives.
Thanks Connie from Joe Murzyn
