All of the Newhall officers are never forgotten, as these 4 officers gave their life up. We have heard that there was a courageous civilian who tried to help. All of the courage and bravery will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace Newhall Officers.

I was 16 years of age at my cousin's funeral in Merced, Ca. I remember that he was such an important man at that time in my life. I still remember walking down the isle of the Catholic church where there were officers and people who saluted him and the others officers that their lives were taken.

As I pass on the lessons you taught us that night, to class after class of new recruits, I make it a point to remind them of the horrific price you paid that we all might become better trained professionals. How many "Newhalls" have been avoided because of what you showed us? How many of us have come home at the end of the shift, because of what you showed us? So many of us owe you so much. The four of you continue to serve our profession. Thanks.

I became a Deputy Sheriff in Utah in the mid 70's and this senseless crime was used many times as training scenarios, and reminders. What a sad day for the Officers, their families and the California Highway Patrol. Rest in Peace brothers.

Officer Frago,
I remember this as it was yesterday, not 43 years ago today! I was to become a LA Deputy Sheriff in 1970, and assigned to the "Wayside Honor Rancho". I drove by J's Coffee Shop 10 times a week and every time felt such remorse and sorrow for what happened to you four Officers.
It's rare when I see a "Chippy", that I don't again think of all of you.
Rest in peace Brothers, I hope we will meet on the other side.

Its been 43 years since these troopers sacrificed their lives in the line of duty which forever changed the way the CHP handled deadly armed confrontations. We will always remember Officers Alleyn, Frago, Gore and Pence in our prayers & thoughts.

Dearest Officer Frago: Just wanted to pause and pay respects to you and your three brother officers who changed law enforcement for good 43 years ago. Because of your loss, cops go home instead of to the morgue because so much has been learned as a result of The Newhall Incident.
Your sacrifice was not in vain. You are appreciated, remembered and loved.

Your dear however sad, happened at a time that I was just entering into law enforcement. This shaped so many training programs and possibly has saved hundreds of lives in law enforcement. You were truly a Hero and your Death was not in Vain.

God Bless you Walter....It's been 41 years and not a day goes by that I don't think of you and the 3 brave officers that gave their lifes along with you that late night for the citizerns of California. Why this had to happen to 4 young officers in the prome of their lives is hard to explain. I know how you felt that night when the incident went down. You are loved and will always be rememebered by all of the Blue and Gold....Watch over all the brave officers that patrol the highways of California and we will meet someday...Semper Fi CHPY....

I met Ofc. Frago's family the other day. They spoke of this incident. One fallen officer is too many.
I work in law enforcement too, for an Arizona municipal agency.

I was a Santa Clarita resident for 35 years. I always respected the CHP and their Officers. I believe his name was Officer Myer, who used to stop me for window tint when I was 17 years old. He told me the story of these four brave Officers in the Newhall shootings and it touched me deeply. I wanted to pay my respects in some way. God bless, Jeff Jaynes Arizona Highway Patrol-Williams, AZ.
