Reflections for Patrolman Gregory Philip Foster
Though I was only 8 years old when you were killed and I never met or knew of you. I am 60 years old now Air Force veteran and retired City of Miami police officer we have so much in common. I've also in my 25 years have heard the screams on my police radio of officers down later to hear that they've passed away. Sounds that will forever be with me. It saddens me to know that you were robbed of your life it's good and it's bad because of pure wicked and evil demons. So sorry sir.

Hero Police Officer, Gregory, Foster, and I were Police Trainees together in 1970. It was also my first week on patrol in Harlem when Gregory and Hero Police Officer Rocco Laurie were murdered. I will NEVER forget the Police radios blasting away that night that two Police Officers were shot and later on they both had died. There assassinations can never be forgotten as it has lived within me for the past 52 years. RIP brothers until we meet once again.Ret. Det Sgt George Reich Bronx Homicide NW CO

Thank you for your service Greg. From the marine corps in Vietnam to the streets of New York City.. murdered by cowards who shot you in the back, the way only a coward can do something like that..there was a made for TV movie about you and Rocco when I was a kid.. You two men made me want to be a NYPD police officer.. And I did become a NYPD police officer.. I’m retired now, but you two brave. Men working in the 9 th pct in the 1970s had courage beyond belief.. God grant you eternal rest and may your memory live on forever. I will never forget you and Rocco.

Patrolman Foster, today marks the 51st anniversary of your murder at the hands of domestic terrorists. You and your partner, Officer Laurie, were assassinated and for what? What was gained by this insanity? NOTHING. You have not been forgotten and the crime was immortalized in a 1975 TV movie that from all accounts is pretty accurate. You are true heroes of the Thin Blue Line and will NEVER be forgotten.
God Bless you Both and may your eternal rest be ever peaceful, Brother.

On this day that you and Officer Laurie were so cowardly gunned down by nothing more than a group of thugs from a terrorist organization, please know that your memory is as strong today as it ever was and will always continue to be strong because of the officers and men you both were. Rest in peace always knowing that your service, both military and police, and sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren. God Speed.

After all these years there still is no acknowledgement within this above memorial to indicate Cpl. Gregory Philip Foster (USMC) Silver Star which I personally find disgraceful. Semper Fi Brother, Thank you for your service both in Viet Nam and the ugly streets of NYC. God Bless.

rest in peace. you definitely went above and beyond the call of duty. viet nam and then nypd, many have done neither, if anything at all. you and po laurie definitely made a difference in what the lower east side is today. as far as i know the corner of ave b and e 11 street, the corner of your killing still has no honorary sign affixed to a lampost. there are so many in this day and age throughout nyc why not esp for this the ultimate inn a horrendous act.

I did not know either of these brave officers personally. However, Greg Foster served in the same Marine Corps battalion as did I -- 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (Regiment). I served with Echo Company, Foster with Golf Company. We never met, but we share a bond as brother Marines. Greg Foster was awarded the Bronze Star, Silver Star, and Purple Heart medals for bravery-in-action and wound received. From all accounts, he was a hell of a Marine; I'm certain he was also a hell of a cop. May both Foster and Laurie rest in peace.
