You left us 72 years ago. I worked the SF CHP office in 1973-74. That office building was still there. It has since been torn down to make room for more parking. Officer Alvin Leroy Foss was my father. I was 22 months old when
he died and so I never got the chance to know him. I'm glad there
is a place where he is remembered. There are few alive who knew him. I hope somehow that those who did know him have not forgotten. To have his life cut so tragically short doing such honorable service was for me always a profound sense of loss, difficult to accept and a source of pride. Thank you for what you do.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fifty-ninth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
