I was 10 years old and living in the Frankford section of Philly when your life was taken away by a dirty, low-life coward. Now 29 years later I no longer reside in Philly, and work with the Bethlehem PD. One thing that has not changed is that I still get sick to my stomach knowing what happened to you, and how some people actually support that piece of garbage. I hope and pray that you have found peace with God, and that Maureen and your family will one day see you again. God Bless you brother!

Danny, Well another year gone by and December rolls around. Besides thinking about Christmas and watching the grandkids be happy; it's time to remember one of Phillies finest and another LEO taken from friends and family. There has been way to many young men like you who their lives were cut short by evil! A LEO is alot like a soldier. They both take on a job to serve and protect and they don't do it for the fame or fortune. Takes a special breed of men and women who everyday don the uniform of a LEO or Soldier. In approximately 2 weeks I am going back to Philly to spend time with my wife's family. I plan on going by the spot where you were taken and salute you! You will never be forgotten and someday justice will finally be served after 29 years after your untimely death. Merry Christmas to you, Danny and to all those with you in heaven. GOD BLESS & PROTECT all the LEO's & Soldiers serving now. GOD please don't allow anymore families to feel this pain, expectially during the time we remember your Son. Rest In Peace!!!!!!

While walikng the streets of Philadelphia I came across a bronze plaque concreted into the sidewalk. That sidewalk plaque is in front of #1234 Locust St. It marks the spot where this man died protecting us. It reads,"In memory of Daniel "Danny" Faulkner. Murdered at this spot in the line of duty protecting the citizens of Philadelphia on December 9, 1981. Dedicated December 9 2001 by his family and friends." I was awe struck. I was dumfounded. It rocked me out of my everday world. I had never seen that kind of municipal memorial. I googled his name and found this page. He stops a car going the wrong way down a one way street and he is horribly slain. I have since come across other such sidewalk memorials in Philly and find the practice very important, meaningful and commendable.
As we rush about Philadelphia in our every day world, we should be challenged to pause at those spots where these officers gave the last full measure of their devotion. We should be challenged to put our every day concerns aside for at least one moment, just one little moment right there on that sidewalk, and ponder the very thin blue line, of which this man is a part, that separates bad guys
from us the protected. If his murderers would do this thing to an armed officer of the law during a traffic stop, what would they do to the rest of us? I photographed Danny's sidewalk memorial. Then I came across one for another officer. I photographed it also. I have resolved to photograph them where ever I see them and to document the surroundings. I am a frequent visitor to Philadelphia, my favorite city. The moderator of this web site has my email address. If he cares to contact me, we can perhaps come up with a way that anyone who wants to see Danny's sidewalk memorial may do so. The desk at my business is at a window facing a very busy highway. 25,000 cars a day go by my window. I see lots of traffic stops. Whenever I do, I always stop my work and keep an eye out for the officer.
When I am traveling along a deserted rural interstate highway and I see a lone officer approaching a stopped car or I see an officer standing at a driver's window, I always cringe. Then I send the officer a good wish.

As a mother of two sons serving in the Philadelphia Police Department, I remember that day as it was yesterday. My sons were told of the tragedy when they were very young. They are 26 and 22. I am proud to say that they are well aware of their fallen brother, even if it was before their time. We are all family. I am so very proud of my two children, and what they stand for, as well as, all who serve and protect. St. Michael, watch over all our family in blue, and bless those fallen officers and their families. We are one.

I was in a local eatery this past week at lunch and I saw a gentleman wearing a Danny Faulkner memorial shirt that I also have and I struck up a conversation with him and to my surprise he told me about an articale in the local paper he was reading that the Us Supreme court just ruled that it is ok for the state of Pa. to execute wesley cook.
Looks like all the hard work that Maureen and all of the Faulkner supporters are doing is finally getting some good results for the good guys side. Now it is up to governor Rendell to keep it going and sign the dotted line.
R.I.P Danny you are never forgotten

My wife is a Philly gal and she speaks very highly of you! I wish I could have had the chance to meet you. I along with EVERYONE ELSE will never forget you and we hope that someday justice here on EARTH will be carried out! Wish you GOD SPEED and keep watching over those (HERO's) LEO's in Philly. To Officer Faulkner and his widow,
You and your story will never be forgotten. If there is any justice in this world, the scum that shot you will be strapped to the gurney one day, and given the punishment that he so richly deserves.
We remember you, we honor you, and we will never forget you, the service you provided to your community, and the fine example that you set for everyone to follow.
Rest in peace brother. We have the watch now.

After seeing Mumia on the news AGAIN I was compelled to reach out to Daniel's family. We've only been attending court dates for the past 5 years, you've been enduring them for way too long. I can only imagine how tough it is when this scum pops up on the TV or when an entertainer speaks out in support of him. It makes me sick every time I hear about it and I do my best to boycott movies and products by these famous people. My husband, before he was killed, was adamant about boycotting Paul Newman and Ben and Jerry products because of this situation.
Please know that I think of you even when Mumia is not on TV. You will always have my love and support.

I just signed an on-line petition to prevent the City of New York from naming a street after your killer. I do not understand how such a thing could be proposed. I do hope it helps.
