I am a stranger to you and your family, but after reading of your heroic act of bravery as night fell on the 21st of December, 1911, I am compelled to share my thanks. You fired off a round and disabled your assailant as you lay bleeding, staring down the eyes of your maker. You were an inspiration to everyone who believes in angels among us. As the son of a decorated NYPD officer who has since passed on, I have great admiration for your heroism. May your eternal rest be laden with all the wonderful joys that you missed out on as a result of your sacrifice in the name of your brethren. May peace be with you and your family.

Peace be with you, Great Uncle Floyd. My father was fortunate to have the full name of the uncle he never knew, and would have made you proud. God bless you always.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 98th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Policeman Eiler - I found your family info on a geneology website. You were a descendent of European royalty, and born in Kansas on 12/30/1885. You were not only taken from this life, violently, on a Christmas Day but just five days shy of your 26th birthday. So tragic. May you rest easy now. I will continue to try and find more details about you. You...and all the rest...deserve to have your stories told.
