Almost 40 years have gone by since Peter was shot that horrible October day. I always remember his smile and think about his mom’s broken heart. The Egnor Family will always be special to me. I taught Peter and his brothers and sisters Religion at Holy Spirit. My special memory and honor was when Mrs Egnor asked me to conduct a Christmas Prayer Service over Peter’s grave the first Christmas with him. His 18 months serving the people of Atlantic City will never be forgotten since they named the Albany Ave bridge after him 15 years ago. Rest in the bosom of Jesus and know you’re never forgotten!

I was sitting, next to Pete, nor was I wearing a bullet-proof-vest, traveling approximately 60 mph, going up the bride, and at on top the unfortunate took place. I know what happen, & I tell in my book, title "My Bridge Over Troubled Waters" & you can read it for your self !!! "Thank-You-Jesus"

There are no words to describe seeing your handsome Taurean face after 36 years Peter. I was 21 that year too (but you know that). I'm sorry I didn't take that last motorcycle ride with you right before you left this world but you knew my situation and I knew yours. You were one of the sweetest guys I'd ever met. I'm glad we got to be young together and to have FUN together...I'll always cherish that last Summer.

Lots of us have grown old now, but Pete is still young, and tough and cocky and working casino details in Heaven.

Pete,
It's probably been close to forty years now, but to this day, I can still remember wrestling around with you on my living room floor when you were our paper boy in Venice Park. Every time I see your picture at Roll Call I think about that and smile.
You're missed and never forgotten.

By William Butler Yeats
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made;
Nine bean rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight's all a-glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet's wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear the water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements gray,
I hear it in the deep heart's core.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
