Rest in Peace Deputy Sheriff Walter Q, Eckert. Thank You for your Service and Sacrifice protecting the citizens of Travis County, Texas.

I Pray for Peace for your Family, Friends and Co-Workers. I also Pray that the hounds of hell forever pursue your murderer. May his days on this earth be filled with pain and anguish and when he passes May his screams of anguish forever rise up from the lake of fire warning evil doers of their impending fate.

Amen.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 37th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. It angers me to know that the vicious murderer of two deputies only served thirteen years and was then freed.

Rest In Peace.

PaPa, 2008
I'm 33 now, i have 2 sons who are just as proud of you as i am. you died before i was old enough to know you, i was 11 months old when you died. you held me and loved me very much. you played lots of games on my dad , like one time :

you cracked to front door, hid my behind aunt glenda's wedding presents as i slept, while my dad was doing dishes, you pretended to be sleeping as my my daddy went crazy looking for me thinking the worst, as dad looked in on you for the second time he got right uo to your face and just then you popped one eye open and said "you lose something boy?" that was one of the great stories over the years i have heard about you.
in 2004 my Meme or should i say your sweetheart left us to be with you. it was very hard to now visit you both at your gravesight. you have always meant so much to my mom you baby, and my dad who loved you like you were his dad. i hate that you were robbed from me and that your killer is 60 and has been free since he was my age now. he only served 13 years for killing 2 deputies. i think you would heartbroken to know our country is back at war that seems to have no end, that we were attacked on our own soil, that we are globally ruining the world. i think you'd be amazed of the technology we have and that you are on the net. i can't begin to tell you everything i talk to you both and my best friend gina who has been gone since 11-2-06 waiting for a second heart and double lung transplant. i love you and miss you all and wish i had gotten the chance to love you more.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Deputy Sheriff Eckert,
As one officer wrote in another fallen officer's reflection-"No fallen officer should be without a reflection." I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Travis County.
