Your heroism and service is honored today, the one hundred and forty-fifth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Patrolman Duryea, today is the 145th anniversary of your murder. Though your death was tragic and needless, it’s amazing when something good can come of something horrible. To know that ordinary citizens came to the aid of the police is heartwarming. To know that, even then, some people cared enough to help catch a killer is inspiring. Sadly, it didn’t bring you back, but it brought justice and helped reinforce a sense of community.

All I can add to such a pioneer of American Law Enforcement is what I always finish with, God Bless and may you continue to Rest in Peace, Brother.
