Recently I spent a few hours with two of your five grandchildren—my mom Joan and her cousin Bob. They talked about how your two children—Bob’s dad (Charlie) and Joan’s mom (Eleanor)—were just 12 and 10 on the day they lost you. The impact that you had on your two children has been passed down to your five grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 93rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service to my home state and the birthplace of my son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
