Still remember it like it was yesterday. Had the pleasure of meeting you & the Sgt. over the Jump out Boys as y'all's team was called. You knew your job had it's dangers, but you loved fighting crime & getting drugs & bad guys off our streets. You will always be remembered & never forgotten. R.I.P. Brother & Thank you for your commitment.

I knew Ron from Bossier High School and he lived right down my street. I always felt safe with him living close by. I remember hearing the news and remembering what I was doing when I heard, kind of like when Elvis and John Lennon died. Rest in Peace, Ron. You will always be an ICON to me.

I remember having the biggest crush on Ron in high school. I even have some pics of him from a school field trip we went on. still look at them every now and then and I am saddened when I remember what happened. I was devastated when I heard about his passing. He was a good person and a friend to all. He is greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family on this anniversary of his death.

Little did we know in high school that the nicest guy we knew would grow up to be a"hero" in every sense of the word. You were everything I hope my sons are now and will grow up to be. You are not forgotten by John or me. We think of you often.

Ron was a friend and we attended Bossier High school together and co-worker, He with SPD and I was a Deputy Sheriff in Bossier Parish. We worked a few times together with the task force and I can tell you that Ron "Chief" Dean was a great officer that gave his life doing what he loved.
He was a better person for his beliefs in what he talked about doing... taking the bad guys off the streets. Ron was the one you wanted going thru a door with you.
You are missed by many people.

I met Ron Dean in High School. We were completely opposite of each other; I was 5ft 100 lbs, Ron was over 6ft and at least a foot taller. I was loud and cocky. Ron had the quiet confidence. We shared a love of Wrestling @ Bossier High School. He was a leader. He was our CHIEF, our CHOCTAW.
He was a kind, intense, and honest man. When we lost him, we lost one of the Good Guys.
I remember him everyday, but this day is always tough.

Another SPD Officer was shot yesterday, made me remember you. We were going through old photographs the other day and found some of you and Dawn when you were graduating from BPCC! How young you both were! I just wanted to say that you are still remembered, and our hearts break every time we think of the senseless loss of your life. I know you are still on the job, watching over all those you love. Thank you for your service, and most of all, thank you for your friendship!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the seventeenth anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you, especially your family. The hurt of losing a beloved never goes away and both the pain and pride are forever.
Rest In Peace

Ron was a good friend and teamate from our wrestling days at Bossier High School. Dear Ron- I am sorry I lost touch with you after High School. I found out about your sacrifice at our 20th HS reunion in June 2004. I cried! I want you to know I think about you often and pray that we will one day meet in heaven. When we do, I'll try and carry you in a fireman's carry down the football field, just like we used to at wrestling practice! Ron, I thank you for your service and your sacrifice. While I wish it had never come to that, I know you're in a good place and in you're in God's hands. I miss you Ron!

The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

My thought and prayers are with your family, friends and co-workers even after all this time. We had a Narcotics Officer killed in much the same way. Justice is never served even when the suspect is apprehended. Please watch over us and lead us in the right direction. Tell George hello for us!!
