Reflections for Patrolman Jean B. Dozier
I didn't know Jean but served with him as a "temp" 63-to 67 at the Jones Beach barracks. I lived about 1/4 mile from the accident scene in Wantagh. RIP Jean !!

Patrolman Dozier was my next door neighbor growing up on Deer Lane in Wantagh. I remember hearing of his tragic death and I felt bad for his children who were my friends. He was an inspiration to me and I became a Colorado State Patrolman (Trooper) ten years later.

I said a little prayer today for Patrolman Dozier and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO.

Jean was five years older than I was. I didn't appreciate Jean until I was in my early teens and he in his later teens. He was fun to be with, had a wonderful sense of humor and I truly enjoyed his company. He was a wonderful father to four living children, Joanna, Stephen, Michael and Russell. They have grown into wonderful adults. While in high school and early college, he did several "sock hops" on Long Island for Alan Freed,( the King of Rock and Roll). Alan said he looked like Tab Hunter,(a star of th 50's and 60's). I would have loved to have shared more of my life with him. He left us too soon.

Uncle Jean,
I still hold the memory of an uncle bouncing me on his knee as a very young child. Afterall, we share the same middle name...Bryant.
For whatever reason...I followed your footsteps into law enforcement. My mother...your sister...misses you every day. My grandmother...your mother...she is in heaven now, but she missed you every day too.
