To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 45th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for the solace of all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. I thank your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections.

I was born in 1973, and my grandfather had died in 1968, so I unfortunately never knew him personally. My dad was 26 when he died. One memory I know my dad was fond of was that my grandfather would drop him off at school from the side car of his police motorcycle. At an early age I learned of my grandfather's sacrifice, and from that grew a great respect for him and others serving in the line of duty. When I'm able, I attend the annual Memorial Service in Akron and proudly stand when they call his name. It is an honor. Through the years of attending the service, I met the Chief he worked for, who was also his friend, and I would sit next to him and his wife. I heard stories from that Chief, as well as another officer he worked with at the time. As I stated earlier, it is unfortunate I never knew him personally. I pray for the safety of those who currently serve and protect, and for the families who have also lost a beloved family member.

I did not know my grandfather, but I am astonished by the great reflections left from people who also did not know him. I have heard stories and seen pictures of him patrolling downtown Akron on Main Street.
