Reflections for Patrol Officer Louis David Dixon

Louis D. "Bud" Dixon and I worked undercover and searched ships together in Wilmington,N.C. for about two years before we transfered with our families to Nogales,AZ. in Nov. 1973. He and I were always competitive and we were competing on who would get the next big load of narcotics. On April 23/24,'74, the night he and Charles J."Bo" Bokinskie were murdered I was driving out of the San Rafael Valley with my partner and we met them near Patagonia, AZ. We had to give them some equipment that they needed to monitor illegal entry points along the border. I wanted to work a double that night and cover the other side of the "Valley" but my partner didn't feel up to it. We gave Bud and Bo the equipment and headed for Nogales. They went to Patagonia, AZ. and Bud stopped at his residence and picked up his lunch from Celeste (his wife). Then they drove out to the Valley. Early the next morning they got into the gun battle and were killed along with the smuggler who had 172 lbs. of marijuana in his vehicle. "Bud" was my best friend. I will always remember.

Officer Dixon,
On today, the 31st anniversary of you and your partner's murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Nation. As a Border Patrol Agent, I know what it feels like to patrol our border and how lonely it is when you need backup.
