My father a 19 year veteran Sergeant of the Philadelphia police dept, died of a massive heart attack on this day. in the year 1979. At the time he was out on a 32 as he had his neck broken in the line of duty when he was struck with a mahogany bar stool during a bar fight disturbance.

That day was a horribly sad and devastating day for me and my family, but as I look upon these reflections I see two of my fathers brothers in PPD blue were waiting for him at the gates of heaven!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 178th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect, and your memory will always be honored and revered.
