Reflections for Police Officer Thomas M. Barone

I still remember the old North Wildwood Police days when we worked there and the good times everyone shared. Your name always comes up and everyone still misses you after all of these years. It is fifteen years ago today that you were taken from us. We have never forgotten and will always remember you. When we have the NWPD reunion, we will surely remember you and celebrate your life. Rest well our fallen brother.

Tommy,
Although I dont remember much, because I was only two when you past away, I miss you. I hear many stories from my dad who is also a police officer about you, and I have many pictures of you holding me. It makes me sad to think that I could have known you, and mad that there are people out there that would take anothers life. I have done a bike ride with my dads police department in memory of all police officers who were killed in the line of duty. We started at the Maxon-Dixon line and ended in D.C. While I was there I sketched your name off of the wall and sill have it in my room. I have seen your car many times in mike's garage. I look up to you, even though you're not around anymore, and it has been my dream to become a police officer just like you and my old man. I want to one day make it my duty to take the crime off the streets and serive the people. I appreciate everything you have done, and I admire that you gave it all, the ultimate sacrifice, for the good of others.
until we meet..

Cousin Tom, (Pots & Pans)

There is not a day that goes by that don't think of you and think of all the great times we had to share together. You gave the ultimate scarifice to protect the rest of us. The only thing that I miss is not getting the chance to tell you that I Love You as a cousin and will always miss you.

Tommy,
I have never forgotten that horrible day in October so many short years ago. I was unfortunately reminded of the tragedy that domestic violence can have on May 4 when I responded to assist fellow officers at a domestic disturbance only to find that another coward had taken a brother's life. I remember you always and will never forget the short time that we had together. I know the Lord is loving you and Ronnie as much as we all did.

Officer Barone,
On today, the 13th anniversary of your murder, I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Norristown. The scum that murdered you never got to see outside again-he died in prison.

To the family and friends of Officer Thomas Barone and his fellow officers with the Norristown Police Department:

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Officer Barone was brutally murdered thirteen years ago. His valor and bravery are not forgotten.

Our family grieves with you and for you. We share your agony as we lost our beloved Larry Lasater of the Pittsburg Police Dept. when he was fatally shot during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers on April 23, 2005.

May you continue to be comforted by the caring and support of your law enforcement community, and other police survivors.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Thomas gave to his community as a police officer, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on October 11, 1992.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"
