Reflections for Police Officer Emmanuel Andre Wilson

Manny, you are not forgotten brother. You were a member of a small and elite group of cops and they still are.

Manny,
Can't believe that it has been 17 years since we started that Academy in Needham on October 21, 1991. It was a pleasure and an honor to have graduated with you. Thanks for the memories. Heaven is a safer place with you it, God Bless.

POLICE OFFICER GABRIEL ROSA

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Came across this. I wrote a comment about working with you the night before you died that was published in the Herald. I will remember always carrying your body. Back when being a Housing Cop had meaning and Housing Cops had honor, integrity, and we cared for our own. God Bless.

Dear Manny,
It's been a long time classmate since I've seen your photo and so many fond memories come to mind. You and I went through the Police Academy together in Needham Massachusetts for 17 weeks in the freezing winter. Your's was the first funeral I ever went to for an officer down and recall how difficult it was to hold back the tears. I'm sorry you were taken out so young in your career but I know that you are out there serving and protecting the heavens above.
Peace my brother in blue,

I never met you, but a number of our guys went to the Academy with you and none had a bad word to say about you. I attended your funeral and despite my lack of knowing you, I was moved by the pain felt by those who did. You must have been quite a guy. The way you were taken was something we all think about from time to time. When responding to a call, racing along, lights flashing, every intersection causes us to cringe a little, wondering if the drivers around us are paying as much attention as we are to our surroundings. Sadly, in your case, they weren't. You left this world while in the pursuit of justice and for that, you will never be forgotten.

You will also forever live in the heart and minds of those who knew and loved you. God Bless and Rest in Peace.

~~~Eternally and Always~~~
I didn't get to say goodbye
You're gone without a reason why
I've loved you all of my life
and then you weren't there
I didn't get a chance to say
how much I cared
I can't even remember the tears
that I cried
All I really wanted was to tell you
Goodbye
When I last saw you I felt I wouldn't
see you again
There was a distance between us
that I couldn't explain
You wouldn't look
at me but I could see the tears
in your eyes
If you knew then
You should have told me
Then I could have said
Goodbye
So many words left unspoken
So many hearts left so broken
My love for you is forever
And that will never die
We'll be together always
Our souls are one with God
Eternally and Always
I'll never have to say
Goodbye
To those I Love and Those Who Love Me
When I am gone, release me, Let me go
I have so many things to see and do.
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love, you can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it's time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories within your heart,
I won't be far away, for life goes on
So if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near
And if you listen with your heart, you'll
Hear all of my love around you soft and clear
And when you must come this way alone,
I'll greet you with a smile and say,
"Welcome Home"
Hey Manny,
I can't believe it's been almost 9 years since I got that horrible news that you had been killed. I still remember how unreal it was to help carry your coffin to your final resting place.
I also remember how Sandra, your mom, and Andre Jr. conducted themselves so admirably during such a trying time. You would have been so proud of them, I know I was.
Rest well my brother, and we'll get those dealers in Franklin Hill another time, okay?
