Reflections for Patrol Officer Leroy Davis

Never Forgotten

Leroy Davis was my grandfather, my mother's father. My mother was also a twin, her sister dying shortly after birth. Mom was 3 when her father was killed. She said her uncle Levi stopped visiting because it caused him great sorrow when Mom called him "Daddy." I would've liked to have known him. All the family photos of him were lost, but I clearly remember their image from a photograph my mother had of her father and his twin as young men. It is my understanding that his father, my Great-Grandfather, was Sheriff of Dodge City, Kansas and was known as "Dad Davis." Mom said there is a monument to him in that city. I am proud of him for his sacrifice.

85 Years & my respect of you & honor of you is the same as the day I secured a trace of your name on the wall. You are my Brother. I honor your work and respect that you made the ultimate sacrifice in service on the same streets that I would patrol 62 years later. Respect!

My Brother in Arms from the DCPD. 83 Years & we think of you evry day. You are missed! I had the chance to meet a lady who knew you when she was a child. She talked so fondly of you. It spoke to your character!

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 81rst anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace
