Reflections for Patrolman Mark Layne Dabling
Mark was a personal friend. Met him in UCCS classes at Ft. Carson, and became I stant friends. My wife and our two kiss loved him. He'd be on patrol.and stop in for coffee and a brownie. Fixed him up on a couple of dates with wife's single friends. He sounded siren (very briefly) and he kids howled!! Almost 40 years, still think of you often.

I never knew the Patrolman, and I'm not in the profession. I work in a building on the Road named in honor of Patrolman Dabling. The road's name just took on a lot more meaning than it had in the past. I had no idea why the road was named Mark Dabling. It brings tears to think that this man was killed. Each time I drive this road, 5 days a week, I will forever remember his name and what he stood for and how he kept myself and my family safe. Thank you Mark Dabling for your service. I'll never forget you and I will share your story with my family and friends.

I had just started as a call taker (complaint clerk). I didn't meet Mark, but I took a call from a business owner that the traffic stop was partially blocking his driveway. Then the call center went quiet. It was a terrible evening. Mark had many friends. The monster who shot him is still in prison and there's some solace in that.

I was in 3rd grade in Colorado Springs when Mark Dabling was murdered. I remember it like it was yesterday. I recall when the City named a street for him as well.
RIP, Mark Dabling. This 3rd grader never forgot you.

Correction on my earlier posting :I wrote that it was in the 70ties that Mark was killed, but it it was in 1982...I was referring to another event.. Please except my apologies for this....

Like everyone here I sadly grieve with every police officer killed in the line of duty... But because I watched the story of officer Mark it had a deeper and profound impact on me and went to my deepest core.
I understand that he lost his life in the 70ties, but still I want to convey my condolences to all his loved ones and all his fellow officers... May You Always return home safe and sound, and I thank you for your service... From Breda in the Netherlands, Hans Mansens
