To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 65th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

My father, CMSgt (retired) Carroll Garrison, carried on the family tradition of serving his country with honor. Even though Rufus died the same year my dad was born I believe his sacrifice molded my dad to become a role model for me and my children. Thank you for the lasting heritage your service bestowed upon your family.

This and a few other pictures are all I have to reflect about my grandfather. I have 3 grandsons and realize the value of an older person being there to sort of guide you along the way. He gave his life in the line of duty which has always made me proud to be his grandson.
