I miss you so much but am so thankful you were there to help take Aunt Faye home. I know Mom was ready to see you as well. You have left a hole down here but heaven is so much richer for all of you being there. I love you Uncle Lee.

It is so hard to believe it has been 34 years. The pain is just as real today as it was that night, as if time has stood still. So many memories fill my heart. You were more like a big brother to me than my uncle and I will always hold you close to my heart. I know you were one of my daddy's angels in the truck with him on April 16th when he had his wreck and broke his neck at C2, THANK YOU so much for keeping him safe for us that day. Forever RIP uncle Lee Boy .

I worked with Lee for several years on the same shift ...he was a great guy...
Much time has passed but he remains the same as if he were in a time warp
I am now old and gray but Lee is still the young active officer eager to protect and serve his fellow citizens.
I know he is 10-6 with the big chief in the sky working on endless case files

I remember Lee coming over to see my uncles on 800 Jane St. Valdosta as a child I always thought he was so cute, and as time goes by, at his death I found out he was married a Hagan girl, which her sister Brenda was a good friend of mine. The night he passed away I told my grandmother and she took it hard, and she passed away two weeks later. Tommy I meet in my late 20's, very nice family.

Lee was my best friend and my best man at my wedding. His death occurred 23 days after my marriage began. He inspired me to be the best police officer that I could be. He remains in my thoughts, and heart.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
