My family bought the house next door to the Coturri family in San Bruno in 1985 and we became friends with two of Officer Coturri's daughters, Rena and Amelia Coturri. Amelia was the eldest and Rena was the youngest of five children in the family. By the time we purchased our house, all of the other siblings had died except Rena and Amelia. Amelia was a survivor of the 1906 Earthquake. Amelia's picture hangs in the the San Bruno library, where she was part of Burlingame High School's Class of 1917. Being a police officer for 35 years, myself, I always had a special place in my heart for these two women who lost their father very early in their lives. They were very good neighbors to have. Always cheerful and friendly, they both loved to read and went to the city library once a week. Rena loved crime stores. Their father would be proud of them.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 86th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace
