Reflections for Trooper Charles P. Corbin

Trooper Corbin,
On today, the 80th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-for the citizens of the state Missouri and for our Country as well when you served with the MOARNG as a member of the 140th Infantry Regiment. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

.

Trooper Charles P. Corbin was my father. I was 15 month old when he was killed. My father was and remains my inspiration to this day some 60 years later.

I have been assigned to write a report about Trooper Corbin. Upon being hired by the Patrol we had to watch a presentation on the fallen officers. It brought tears to my ears and made me realize that even thought they may be gone, their service will never be forgotten. I can honestly say that I appreciate all that has been done by these men and I will make sure I never forget.

Trooper Charles P. Corbin was my father and has remained my inspiration and hero over the past 60 years since his death (I was 15 months old when he was killed in the line of duty). Recently we were able to have US 71 through Jasper County MO named the "Trooper Charles P. Corbin Memorial Highway" in his honor. Trooper Corbin was the fourth Missouri State Trooper killed in the line of duty in the Patrol’s history and the first to die as a result of a motor vehicle crash. Prior to joining the Patrol he served as a Cape Girardeau, MO police officer. Simultaneously, he attained the rank of Sergeant Major in the MO Army National Guard. He was a loving husband and father who served his city, state and nation with dignity and honor.
