Reflections for Officer David W. Copleman

I would like to express my sympathy to Officer Coplemans family and friends. I am sorry it came so late .I just found this site, I was just a kid when I met him, (though only 7 years his junior)
He was the officer that investigated my dad’s accident on 12 December 1984. I was a pain in his a** at the scene as I kept running to my dads truck. (He was still trapped inside and almost died) We came to an understanding that evening… if I got up and went to the truck again, he would arrest me. He was very professional with me that night, as well as patient, (I thought him quite mean that night for making me set down) I became a medic in the early 90’s and find he was more patient with me then I would have been with me. The next day he was at the County Medical Center to check on how my dad was doing, his kind words and thoughtfulness brought me a great since of calm and peacefulness in this the most traumatic time of my life. I was just sick when I herd he was killed.
There is seldom a day that goes by that I don’t think of that night, and then I reflect upon it and Officer Copelman. I strive every day to follow the example of his kindness and professionalism Thank you Sir.

I stop by this website often after the death of two dear friends with the NCSHP (Troopers Calvin Taylor E.O.W. October 3, 2001 and Anthony Cogdill E.O.W. May 30, 2003).
We all grieve over the lives lost in the line of duty. I hope you can find some comfort knowing that there are countless prayers that go out for your family.
Officer Copelman, you are remembered on this date of your death. You will be remembered always.
These are senseless tragedies that never seem to stop. God Bless the men and women who continue to serve their communities in our great Nation.
...Gone, but never Forgotten....
