Hello Chief Jacobs. One day I would love to meet and break bread with you and talk about your classmate at Norland High who enjoyed beating those drums. And by his steadfast adherence to dignity, integrity and honesty raised the bars of humility and excellence while protecting Dade County. Yes. your friend, Bill Cook, Officer William Coleman Cook, Badge#1664 has been solemnly and humbly remembered for his heroic actions to calm and to eradicate evil, violence and terror from our midst. No easy chore. One arduous and most difficult feat to get a handle on at times. That day of May 16, 1979 and everyday of your life, Officer Cook, has been cemented, celebrated and consecrated as a day of perseverance, proficiency and pinpoint resolve that made you a completely well rounded leader of other comrades. teaching, mentoring and inspiring all taught by a very admired, likable and aspiring hero of character and distinction all because you cared. All by virtue of your concern and intuitive nature. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Working for over twenty years at Sabal Palm Elementary now named for one of its late principals, Mrs. Gertrude K. Edelman says a humble account of your mother, Mrs. Julia Cook's love for her community and the children she met everyday they were so fortunate. And your father, Mr.Charles W. Cook, serving our country. Pride,class and civility energized your home, Officer Cook. No doubt about any of these points. Embellishment is one thing. Serving humanity with esteem, regard and courage is a whole other nugget. Take care Chief. I hope you and your family are well and enjoyed the holidays. By the way sadly on March 7th of this year, Bill Cook's beloved mother passed away in Long Beach, California at the humble age of one-hundred and three. Years of piousness, good health and her adored son's soul of safety watching over her. The Cook's are resting in peace in Cynthiana, Kentucky at Battle Grove Cemetery. Mr. Cook passed the end of July 1976. Once again Chief all the best wishes. We and you of course wish your friend was here today smiling and doting on his beloved wife Karen. She remarried about ten years ago as Mrs. Bonidy and I spoke with her where she now resides in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota around a year or so ago.

The taste of a really great meal with a true comrade in arms must have been very nice, Officer Jeffrey Jackson and so being there to dine with your brother officer, Officer William Coleman Cook, a man of passion, whose accomplishments were right there with stellar integrity and character. It's exactly what the people of Dade County asked for and deservedly received in loyal, prudent and professional service with a smile. All that dignity and sense of purpose now directed skyward because of an evil man causing a ruckus and violently shattering your life and family's, Officer Cook, forever. Their happiness and joy have continued as they humbly carry the torch of your most humane and heroic legacy. Faith and spirit cannot revive you, but it sure cannot tarnish the excellence you brought to society and to those residing in and around Dade County.
