As your classmate, friend and colleague, former Police Chief Geoffrey Jacobs, stated Officer Cook, your life should not have been ended forty plus years ago. Too much left to accomplish and to do it with your special wife, Karen. Honor, integrity and respect all given to Dade County to serve and to rescue those in Mr. Pearsall's evil clutches. Just rotten that such a nice man of honor and respect with disrespected along with his fellow officers who nearly lost their own lives. Bombs exploding. Gunfire disturbing the peace and unity of the Dade County community you , Officer Cook, held so dear to your honorably heroic heart. A heart that was skillful and talented, a mind so sharp and incisive. Dignity, character and a genuinely well respected man of integrity and truth. Surely a very trusted gentleman whose pride helped to restore a sense of decency on the streets where sadly on May 16,1979, peril and turmoil from a depressed and diabolical man ended your resourceful career and life with your precious and most beloved Karen. Your mother, Mrs. Julia Cook, may she and your father, Charles, both rest in peace along with you my neighbor, friend and hero. Her humility and sanctity, along with her volunteerism helped to sustain her life and allowed her to live to the ripe age of one hundred and three. She had to bury you with Karen and according to your neighbor, Mr. Scott Oliphant, had a pained appearance and yet maintained dignity and honor as she taught you and Nancy her entire life. Your humble comrades have not forgotten you, Officer Cook, respected, precious and most treasured as a servant of God. A true warrior and welcome relief to the citizens you served and protected. You were your mom's darling and most heroically beloved "Bill" or "BIlly" as some have called you. You'll always be Officer William Coleman Cook, Badge #1664 to me and my family.
