You stood on perseverance, professionalism, proficiency and peaceful life for society, Officer Cook. The backbones of honesty,integrity and dignity that cast themselves at the evil clutches of violence that caused Dade County unrest and tension. Everyday you cared. Every moment you were composed and attentive to duty, detail never letting anything derail your heart and soul from achieving a level of serenity and safety for mankind. One cannot ever place all their eggs in one basket. You must have a support system delegated to serving the needs of an entire community. One or two brave and humble officers cannot tow the slab of dignity, integrity and respect all by themselves.Sometimes evil leaves a venue in desperate shape and your attention to details, Officer Cook, saved more than a few faces. The torment and treachery of it all was more than anyone could comprehend and yet you went that day though you were not required to go. That composure, that fortitude conveyed volumes of valor and loving care you afforded everyone who you greeted and protected. Their lives were spared as you gave yours for your friends, Officer Cook, to be eternally honored and poignantly saluted for gracing our humanity for twenty-five productive years of accomplishment and determination. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. That child of Mr. Pearsall's I have some sympathy for its mother and I don't know what she said to it. You pour effort into coaxing a man to surrender before hell breaks loose. You gave Mr. Pearsall every chance to give up and turn himself in and he was more than stubborn. He was vicious and heinous and everything he represented that tragic day, Officer Cook as he took your life and nearly ended those of your colleagues. Dade County honors you and others from Dade County who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure a measure of serenity and accountability. Such tireless integrity,dignity and most blessed character helped to defeat the likes of violence other times.
