Sadly, I was not there that tragic day you were taken by violence, Officer Cook, to take your hand and to hold you until help arrived to try and save your life. Dade County and your beloved family lost a valued member of their force and a man steeped in the rich traditions of honesty,integrity and dignity all lending a helping hand to attempt to get an evil man to give himself up before things mushroomed out of kilter. Whenever I drive by a tennis court I think of you, Officer Cook as you must have enjoyed your exercise along with your friend and hero, Officer Keith DiGenova. Cannot forget nor overlook what he and Officer Robert Edgerton meant to Dade County as survivor heroes while their humanely honored and dignified comrade gave his life trying to stop a wayward man from harming his girlfriend and other citizens of Dade County.
