Police work is not some flash in the plan employment, it's a labor of love performed by those who willingly accept the risks and rewards when they affix their name on that humble line. You were, Officer Cook, special and extra caring, compassionate and charismatic in all phases of your life and career tragically cut way too short because of one man's evil life of crime. You put integrity, heart and the dignity of your sweet and gentle soul in harm's way to shield us from violence and to reinforce serenity into mankind's pursuits of life so significant. Character, true trustworthiness, virtue and commitment were those vehicles that steered you from point A to point B. No one would have ever imagined May 16, 1979 would have ended the way it did for you and nearly for your fellow officers, Keith Di Genova and Robert Edgerton may Mr. Edgerton rest in peace. It was your due diligence and both an unselfish and unwavering spirit that succeeded and accomplished the tasks you set out. You will be saluted and remembered for sacred journeys and missions of hope, faith and goodwill springing forth. Satisfaction in knowing you performed in a highly professional way aiding and rescuing your comrades from more peril that sad day. Along with Officer Robert Edgerton may both of you rest easy and Officer Keith DiGenova may he live a long life as a survivor hero. Mr. Pearsall should have contemplated his consequences before unleashing evil and mayhem that hot afternoon in Liberty City, (Gladeview).
