Rainbows are pretty neat to gaze at. What's more humble than a cherished man going out on his daily patrols risking his life to make society aglow once more. Dade County saw the light and today decades after you gave your life, Officer Cook, they see so much difference than when you walked and drove around your neighborhood calming and restoring peaceful relationships between mankind. Police work is not rocket science. You don't need a ruler. You require much more from a heart of honor warm and endearing. A soul of humbleness that did its part to enrich and to uplift the downtrodden. Officer Cook, ingenuity, intelligence and intuition were a part of your sacred badge and uniform that displayed and demonstrated emotional stability, endeavor, reverence and virtue at every turn you made here in Dade County. Your venue that was your vehicle of responsibility, accountability and the reliability that its people noticed. Anyone still living here and in particular that area where you gave your life should always bear your name, cherished, blessed and rewarded divinely for heart, tenacity and for being fair minded and most practical. Your colleagues that very last watch you worked, Officer Cook, still think of you. Their memories are never clouded though your friend and comrade, Officer Keith DiGenova still deals with an array of physical and psychological issues having nearly been killed by the evil man who took your young life robbing your family and Karen of many more years of retirement and happy occasions. To channel your honesty, integrity and dignity into the fortitude that created a lasting bond here in Dade County, well you are forever their hero. The bold and brave risking life to properly put a sealant upon serious trouble. You performed in an outstanding fashion and deserve humble salutes and homage given to a special and wonderful human being. Rest in peace my neighbor, friend and hero. Officer Edgerton, you should live and enjoy your retirement as your comrade, Officer Cook, is never forgotten. I went yesterday to his grave to visit and to pray for him on what would have been his 68th birthday. A somber and poignant moment.
